Imaging USA is one of the largest conventions held in the U. S., from January 20-22, in Atlanta, Georgia. More than 10,000 photographers, graphics artists, and people in general attended and witnessed top vendors show off their newest and latest wares. Sponsored by the Professional Photographers of America, the convention was composed of several prime exhibitioners. Also, educational and inspirational classes were held as an option.
More than anything else, Imaging USA represented a meeting place for those who celebrate and love what you love. And that had to do with everything photography.
Nikon and Canon was there, and both put on a show of their latest and greatest camera equipment. Mpix Pro and Bayphoto, the top line image processing companies exhibited albums and wall mounted photographs in various types such as metal-plate, canvas-wrap and acrylic.
Even some of the local photographic suppliers were pitching their inventory, such as KEH, the largest used camera supplier in the world. And there was Showcase Photo and Video with their new inventory of photographic equipment. More than 230 vendors contributed to the success of awe-inspiring convention
As a long-time passionate photographer, I viewed this as an opportunity to meet with others who share the same love of the craft. And the discussions, stories, and experiences we shared were worth more than the most expensive Hasselblad. I met with local photographer Mike Noa who has a studio business, Photoplex Studios, for serious amateurs and professional photographers. He also teaches photography certification at Clayton State University.
I ran into Facebook photography friend, Fran Reisner., based out of Dallas Texas. She is doing a bit of nation-wide travel in preparation for her upcoming photography project.
Next year, Imaging USA will be showing in Phoenix, AZ from January 12-14.
This event was huge and required considerable walking, viewing of the vendor's booths, and standing around. As a reporter/photographer for Examiner.com, this can be somewhat difficult to lug around two Canon EOS 7D cameras with battery grips and lenses. However, mission accomplished.
